This professional learning series is designed for School Leadership Teams (SLTs) to move along the continuum from the "Getting Started" phase to "Sustained Implementation" described in the Self Assessment of MTSS Implementation (SAMI) framework. The training focuses on the human and strategic elements of leadership: building 100% consensus, mastering implementation science, and creating a building-wide plan that isn''t just a document, but a live roadmap for student success.
Participants will master the transition to collaborative leadership, equipping every team member with the coaching skills and strategies needed to weave student, family, and community voices into the decision-making process.
To support this, the session provides structured discussion points and practical tools for building an evidence portfolio aligned with SAMI scoring criteria. Participants will explore concrete examples such as MTSS vision statements, team roles, communication plans, and data analysis frameworks.
Learning objectives
- Participants will refine their team’s internal structure and function by defining explicit roles, developing consensus, and creating procedures that define meeting and communication structures to effectively implement a MTSS system.
- Team members will assess their knowledge in the core components of MTSS and identify specific professional learning needs required to lead implementation science, data-based decision-making (DBDM), and coaching cycles for all tiers of instruction.
- Teams will use data based decision making to develop a building wide MTSS vision and plan that is aligned with the district mission and continuous improvement goals.
- Participants will design an ongoing feedback loop with stakeholders that actively engages families and students in school-level action planning.
